Fallen Petals by Kenneth Vincent Walker

Fallen Petals

Each day seeing more

And more petals have

Dropped and wishing

That I could save them

But sadly I could not.

They are a constant

Reminder of what we

All must face in our

Untimely surrender to

This dwindling fate.

Once colorful, vibrant,

Full of life, full of grace;

I remember their faces

Distinctly, yet forgotten

Most of their names.

They each had promise.

However, many drifted

Unfulfilled; aspirations

Dashed on the pavement;

Hope eventually killed.

Wishing I could save

Them but sadly I could

Not. Helplessly realizing

My vulnerabilities each

Day as more and more

Petals have dropped.
