No stringy pulp is left in the craggy pit.

That cyanide-filled stone prostate

hides its almond family resemblance

within an impenetrable shell.

My teeth make a fulcrum on the pit

and leverage another mouthful.

Benign flesh tears away from poison seed.

Subtle magic, mirroring mandrake root,

awakens medievalist superstitions.
