Sasq' Watcher by Kenneth Vincent Walker

Sasq’ Watcher
Crystalline puffs of breath
Frozen in midair. Scared
Shitless, lost in the vast
Wilderness in a surprise
Encounter. At the wrong
Place, at the wrong time,
Witnessing what would
Appear out of nowhere is
A most horrifying sight.
Blood curdling shrieks
As branches snap in half,
Red eyes reflecting back;
Stark darkness below, as
Menacing clouds pass a
Faltering moonglow; yet
Hidden, forbidden, now
Approaching with each
Thunderous step where
Parallel worlds collide, to
Intersect in alignment, to
A magnetic grid, amid the
Woodlands where Natives
Hunt for food. There is a
Portal harboring a hairy
Beast, somewhat human;
Yet, undeniably ape-like
In appearance, a hominid
From another dimension
Magically absorbed back
Through the portal as the
Dematerializing immortal.
