The Vampire
I saw a man tonight who obviously
Did not belong;
He walked amongst his children
And they were all bathed
In silver;
He walked through streets crowded with
Young dreams
He never had
Old money
He never knew
Eyes he never dared stare into
Even at arms’ length.
With nothing to say he said
Not a word;
But if he did or even could
Would he ask his silver children
To forgive him?
Or perhaps he'd beg for their
Upturned eyes
For their soft and youthful skin
For their beautiful and bilingual minds
And give birth to himself again.
But he said nothing and instead
Silently begged
For those closest to him
To see him
To remember him
And grant him
His immortality
